WELCOME TO

THE MAYOR'S BLOG

With the launch of the new EERC International website coinciding with the start of the 2020 - 2021 UAE racing season, it seems a good time to start a blog to update not only the EERC International members but also our followers. This blog will be my thoughts and musings of the UAE racing scene, racing and sport in general whilst trying to keep politics out of it. Occasionally, my mind may wander to the world at large.

With the popular tipping competition also moving from my late friend Mark Monkhouse’s Comeracinguae site, the new website should keep us busy.

The Newmarket HIT (Horses In Training) sale is also taking place at the moment and I am currently looking at a large selection of horses for both the EERC International team and other clients. With the opening cards for Al Ain, Jebel Ali and Sharjah to look over, I should have plenty to do.

For the first time in a number of years we will not have a runner for the opening weekend. The first meetings of the season have often been lucky for the EERC team. Mizbah won the opening race of the season twice. Pillar Of Society won at the first Meydan meeting of the 2018 - 2019 season and last season, we were a head away from an opening night double. Grand Argentier lost by a head on the line and Tradesman collected the final race of the evening. We can look as far back as Kilt Rock who won at the opening Jebel Ali meeting in 2011 the year he won four in a row.

We don’t have a runner for the opening week but we hope to line up with at least Tradesman next week at Meydan.

See you at the races……
